Research Summary: Colorado utilizes freshwater resources to replenish ponds and reservoirs to ensure fish and wildlife can survive and thrive within a water ecosystem with little to no mixing. My research focuses on how properly managed aquatic vegetation can aid in mixing and ensuring the dissolved oxygen rate in water remains at normal levels. This dissolved oxygen rate directly impacts the ability of aquatic wildlife to survive. Properly managed vegetation may facilitate mixing and thus decrease the amount of water resources being wasted to replenish ponds and reservoirs.
