Higher Education as a Critical Global Partner for Enabling and Accelerating Climate Action
COP30’s sixth axis for action includes unleashing actors and enablers, and the global higher education sector is delivering on this agenda. This panel explores how higher education can build capacity across geographies and scales, directly benefiting their local, regional, and national communities.
Speakers: This panel will feature representatives from higher education networks and institutions around the world.

Youth Environmental Alliance in Higher Education Network
CSU is one of the lead institutions of the YEAH network, which is designed for students to raise their voices and share ideas with the global audience. Drs. Bowser and Klein are part of the team organizing dialogues with students and educators on climate action. YEAH is working with The Higher Education Alliance to organize events and provide opportunities for students to be fully engaged in the COP processes. Dr. Bowser, as a lead author for the IPCC AR7 report that is just getting underway, will be hosting dialogues with the IPCC authors and co-leads to provide opportunities for students learn about environmental governance and sustainability through the scientific assessment process.
Mountain Sentinels
CSU is the lead organization for the Mountain Sentinels Alliance – which consists of academics, community knowledge holders, Indigenous rights-holders, practitioners, educators, and students – and is focused on identifying and implementing pathways to sustainability across the world’s mountains.
Mountain Sentinels will be contributing to UNFCCC COP30 through several events and partner collaborations.

The School is responsible for managing CSU’s participation as an official observer organization in The Convention on Climate Change. CSU can request that a small number of people receive credentials for the annual meetings of the Conference of Parties (COP), which is the international body in which negotiations for a global biodiversity agreement take place.
