Research Summary: I am studying the water/food nexus in Colorado through an interdisciplinary lens. My research draws from the disciplines of sociology, psychology, governance and public policy. As surface water supplies will continue to dwindle, Colorado agricultural producers (farmers and ranchers) must continue to adapt to drier conditions and extreme uncertainty from drought, shifting markets and governmental policies. I am conducting qualitative research to better understand the motivations and barriers to behavioral changes, specifically for producers’ decision-making around water resources. The goal of this research is to produce outcomes that will be useful for agricultural producers and policy makers.
