Research Summary: My research explores how wildfire outcomes are influenced by forest management activities like logging and prescribed burning. I use data science, remote sensing, and statistical modeling to unite information from land managers, satellites and UAVs, and field technicians. I seek to understand how climate, weather, topography, vegetation, and forest management interact to affect wildfire outcomes like burn severity, fire spread, and damage to ecosystems and structures. Climate change, historical policy, and extensive human development in forested landscapes are causing extreme wildfires to occur more frequently. My work aims to help society overcome this challenge and develop a healthier relationship with wildfire.
