Managing the Planet | Low Snow, High Stakes: Impacts Across Colorado

Low snowfall is no longer an occasional challenge, it’s a defining issue for Colorado’s economy, ecosystems, and water future. This panel brings together experts from CSU to discuss how declining snowpack and accelerating ice loss are reshaping the state. Panelists will offer insights behind changing snow and drought patterns, the ripple effects on recreation and local economies, and the growing pressures on water systems that serve communities, agriculture, and industry. What does Colorado’s future look like as we adapt to a lower-snow future?
Panelists:
Jude Bayham, Associate Professor, Agricultural and Resource Economics
Allie Mazurek, Engagement Climatologist, Colorado Climate Center
Dan McGrath, Associate Professor, Geosciences
Moderator: Gene Kelly, SoGES Faculty Research Liaison, Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station and Associate Dean of Extension
