Research Summary: My research pertains to optimizing the sustainability and resilience of transportation projects. Through this research, I plan to answer the question – how we can improve sustainability and resilience in transportation projects while lowering the life cycle cost and associated greenhouse gas emissions, among all possible alternatives (exponential dataset). To visualize this problem, imagine a classical weight balance wherein we have sustainability and resilience on one end and several limitations such as project budget and schedule on the other, as we need to find the right balance between these variables. My research attempts to find alternatives that satisfy these balancing.
