Statistics and Data Science for Sustainability

From the dawn of civilization until the year 2003, humans produced as much information as they now produce within two days. Learning how to extract, clean, analyze, visualize, and communicate these data and produce actionable insights has become a crucial skill in the job market. This project will redesign two interdisciplinary courses that teach statistics and open-source data science, POLS320 and POLS625, with a distinct focus on the social-environmental-economic aspects of sustainability. These courses will equip undergraduate and graduate students across a wide variety of departments at CSU with the skills needed to answer empirical questions about sustainability and the environment.
