ECON2XX: Economics to combat climate change

Economics can help us understand why environmental degradation occurs and how we can sustainably manage and protect our environment. This project aims to develop a new introductory course: ECON2XX: Economics to Combat Climate Change. Currently, there are no courses that specifically focus on the economics of global warming and climate policies that are accessible to undergraduate students with little or no background in economics. This course would fill a much-needed gap in our existing sustainability curriculum at CSU and could service a broad spectrum of undergraduate students. The development of this course would be undertaken by Prof. Burgess, Prof. Iverson, and Prof. Barbier. It will draw on their research and that of eminent scholars in the field, and it will serve as an important gateway to higher level courses and further research related to the economics of environmental and climate sustainability.
