Conservation for Climate Justice: Class & Curriculum Development

Climate justice is one of the greatest sustainability challenges of the 21st century. Globally, the most adverse effects of climate change are borne by the communities least responsible for contributing to the emissions most responsible for driving climate change. Prevailing science shows that decisive actions to support climate change adaptation and mitigation must address these forms of injustice through diverse strategies, especially biological and cultural diversity conservation. SOEGS funding will support a new hybrid undergraduate/ graduate course “Conservation for Climate Justice” and creation of a series of recorded interviews with global climate justice leaders that will form the basis for new sustainability curriculum for use across CSU.
