Graduate Certificates

The Graduate Certificates in Applied Global Stability (GCAGS) are designed to meet the global stability needs of senior non-commissioned officers and mid-career officers in the Special Operations Forces community as well as the global stability needs of other Department of Defense, USAID, Peace Corps, and development professionals. Each certificate may be completed online and requires a completion of 12 credits. Supported by Colorado State University’s School of Global Environmental Sustainability and Colorado State University’s Office of Defense Engagement.

Efforts to improve standards of living in communities around the world — especially those in developing countries — can benefit substantially from knowledge of sustainable management and use of resources. Whether you are employed by a non-governmental organization, the Department of Defense, or another entity, Colorado State University’s graduate certificates in applied global stability will build your capacity to implement environmentally sustainable practices.

Certificates are available in three topic areas: agriculture, natural resources, and water resources.

The courses teach practical skills that immediately can be applied to improve social, economic, infrastructure, and environmental sustainability.

Completing any of the three graduate certificates in applied global stability will enable you to:

  • Place your work and discipline within the context of global sustainability.
  • Better address interactions among agriculture, water, and other natural resources.
  • Understand how social and cultural factors affect what different populations consider to be sustainable, and how scientific, sociological, and economic factors affect potential mechanisms to achieve sustainability

AGRICULTURE CERTIFICATE

Concentrating on topics such as sustainable agriculture, urban horticulture, animal agriculture, food systems, bioenergy, and more, this certificate is designed to meet the global stability needs of senior NCOs and mid–career officers in Special Operations and Civil Affairs communities, as well as the global stability needs of other Department of Defense, USAID, Peace Corps, and development professionals.

Courses focus on global environmental sustainability and agriculture. The purpose and objectives of the certificate are to make it possible for these professionals to tap into CSU’s world–class expertise in Global Environmental Sustainability and Agriculture.

Upon completion of this graduate certificate, students will have a firm grounding in:

  • Major issues in global environmental sustainability
  • Major issues in agriculture and global stability

NATURAL RESOURCES CERTIFICATE

Concentrating on topics including military lands management, natural resources policy, sustainable infrastructure, and more, this certificate is designed to meet the global stability needs of senior NCOs and mid-career officers in the Special Operations and Civil Affairs communities, as well as the global stability needs of other Department of Defense, USAID, Peace Corps, and development professionals.

Courses focus on global environmental sustainability and natural resources management. The purpose and objectives of the certificate are to make it possible for these professionals to tap into CSU’s world-class expertise in global environmental sustainability and natural resources.

Upon completion of this graduate certificate, students will have a firm grounding in major issues in global environmental sustainability, and major issues in natural resources in a global stability context.

Courses focus on global environmental sustainability and water management. The purpose and objectives of the certificate are to make it possible for professionals to tap into CSU’s world-class expertise in global environmental sustainability and water resources.
