Managing the Planet: The Renewable Energy Transition

October 11, 2023 @ 5:00 pm - 6:30 pm

Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and a statewide transition to clean energy are integral to sustaining Colorado’s way of life. Transitioning to clean energy protects the health of communities and natural environment, provides access to lower-cost clean energy resources, increases investment and economic growth opportunities, and expands clean energy jobs. To address Colorado’s two largest sources of emissions — the power sector and transportation — the state is working to transition to 100% clean electricity generation by 2040. Panelists representing different disciplines will discuss how their research informs decision making, housing and the built environment, and the economic impact.

Panelists:
Jesse Burkhardt, Associate Professor, Agricultural and Resource Economics
Ellison Carter, Assistant Professor, Civil and Environmental Engineering
Steve Conrad, Associate Professor, Department of Systems Engineering
Carol Dollard, Utility Engineer, CSU Facilities Management

Moderator: Gene Kelly, SoGES Faculty Research Liaison, Deputy Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station and Associate Dean of Extension
