Research Focus: CSU is a leader across the nation in developing promising research around agricultural innovation. This research carries hope that our food system will support a growing population despite major ecological sustainability challenges. However, what remains indecipherable is how all of these advancements compounded with climate change, energy demands and development pressures, will come together to transform policies, agribusiness and perhaps most potently, the rural cultures and landscapes they are geared towards. What will the agricultural landscape look like in 25 years, and what fibers of cultural connection to that land will persist? Using CSU’s agricultural research centers as case studies, this project will employ speculative design research methods to create detailed participatory visualizations of Colorado’s future agricultural landscape.
