Research Summary: Conservation of native fish is a critical issue facing many regions around the world from increasing water scarcity and the impacts of invasive species. My doctoral research aims to understand the interactions between ecological, physical, and social factors that influence riverine ecosystems by performing three interrelated tasks: A literature review of in-stream flow requirements for fish, an analysis of the effects of salinity on invasive mosquitofish, and an analysis of water users understanding of river management. Through this research, I aim to provide a comprehensive understanding of the dynamics of riverine systems and assist in the recovery of native fish.
