Research Summary: My research work examines the decision making behaviors of electric vehicle (EV) owners. I am focusing on EV disengagers (a population hindering sustainable transportation). This group encompasses EV discontinuers (who purchase EVs but revert to internal combustion vehicles) and EV underutilizers (who have EVs but don’t utilize them as needed). While this is a smaller population, the impact of their decisions is significant enough to derail the global aspirations of lowering greenhouse gas emissions. By studying these behaviors, my research aims to identify the underlying factors driving EV disengagement and develop strategies to ensure an effective transition to sustainable transportation.
