Professor, Department of Anthropology
Resident Fellowship Year: 2009-2010
Faculty Profile: Chris Fisher
Research Focus: Christopher Fisher spent his time as a Resident Fellow continuing the work of SoGES’s 2008-2009 GCRT, The Institute for Society, Landscape, and Ecosystem Change (ISLEC). Fisher will focus on human/environment perspectives, particularly complex land-use problems such as deforestation, urbanization, the wild land/urban interface, desertification, and land degradation. Most of Dr. Fisher’s work will take place in Lake Pátzcuaro Basin in Mexico, where archaeologists, geologists, and geographers are trying to better understand the linked environmental and human prehistory.
