Eliisa Carter is a Program Associate at Colorado State University’s School of Global Environmental Sustainability, where she runs the Climate Across the Curriculum training program for faculty members across diverse disciplines to incorporate climate change literacy and brainstorm to engage students on the subject matter in their classroom. The program has since expanded outside of CSU to public school districts in Colorado and other higher educational institutions in the U.S. Prior to her current role, Eliisa was the program manager for the CSU Climate Initiative, a cross-college program advancing climate literacy, research, and leadership to prepare the next generation of climate leaders, which is now part of the SoGES.
Eliisa is also a Research Associate at the Public Lands Policy Group in the Warner College of Natural Resources, where she studies climate change adaptation in the context of American natural resource management. Before joining CSU, she served as a consultant for the UN Climate Change’s Adaptation Division, where she investigated climate communication efforts, hosted adaptation planning  and climate futures workshops, and developed technical and informational papers on adaptation at both global and national levels. She holds an M.Sc. in Disaster Risk Management and Climate Change Adaptation from Lund University’s Faculty of Engineering and a B.A. in International Studies, with a focus on global environmental politics and development, from American University’s School of International Service.
