Antarctic Lecture- Dr. Melisa Diaz

February 23, 2021 @ 7:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Ice-free areas within the Transantarctic Mountains in Antarctica contain some of the oldest exposed soils on Earth and have been greatly modified by the advance and retreat of glaciers throughout the recent geologic past. However, despite generally biologically unfavorable conditions, soil organisms persist. This presentation will discuss how glacier movement has impacted nutrient sources and life itself.
