Many undergraduate students experience significant burnout, intensified by the COVID-19 pandemic and ongoing social and environmental challenges. While students are often asked to engage with complex issues such as equity; social and environmental justice; and social responsibility, they are rarely given structured opportunities to explore how personal well-being, identity, and sustainability are interconnected. This course utilizes one of CSUs most unique assets, CSUs Mountain Campus, as a living learning classroom to explore dimensions of social and ecological/environmental sustainability. Focusing on inquiry; human sustainability and well-being; and social engagement, this immersive place-based course offers students space to learn; engage in dialogue; and connect with the natural environment.
