SUMMARY:Climate Across the Curriculum: Virtual Showcase
DESCRIPTION:Join us on April 1\, 2024\, from 12–1 PM MT on Zoom for the Climate Across the Curriculum Virtual Showcase\, hosted by the School of Global Environmental Sustainability and the Colorado State University Climate Initiative. \nThis session is designed for instructors interested in integrating climate change research and education into undergraduate courses. You’ll gain insights into the overall program\, the application process\, and hear from part participants’ experiences. \nWe are currently accepting applications from instructors both inside and outside of CSU for our next training\, which will take place August 12–14\, 2025\, in Fort Collins\, Colorado. If you’re considering applying\, this showcase is a great opportunity to learn more about what we’re looking for in applicants and how the program can benefit your teaching. \nThe session will be recorded. \n  \nJoin Zoom Meeting\nhttps://zoom.us/j/95333083109 \nMeeting ID: 953 3308 3109

SUMMARY:CCI Climate Talk :: Dairy production\, air quality\, and climate change
DESCRIPTION:What can cows and birds teach us about climate and health? In this Climate Talk\, the panelists reimagine environmental health through a multi-species lens\, using data from animals as sentinels to understand how climate-related air quality changes affect human and ecosystem well-being. Moving beyond traditional\, human-centered approaches\, this talk highlights innovative ways to monitor environmental change and design more responsive\, equitable public health strategies. \nPanelists: \nSheryl Magzamen\, Professor\, Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences\nColleen Duncan\, Professor\, Microbiology\, Immunology\, and Pathology\nShantanu Jathar\, Associate Professor\, Mechanical Engineering\nWhitney Pennington\, Program Coordinator\, Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences \n  \nJoin on Teams

SUMMARY:Managing the Planet :: Migration: Birds and Blooms
DESCRIPTION:Migration- Birds and Blooms \nClimate change is shifting the rhythms of life across the planet. Rising temperatures\, altered rainfall patterns\, and extreme weather are changing when and where species move. For migratory birds and pollinators\, these changes can be life-altering—and sometimes life-threatening. \nBirds rely on seasonal cues to begin their long journeys across continents. But as spring arrives earlier in some regions and food sources bloom out of sync\, many birds are arriving too late to feed or nest. Some are changing their routes or skipping migrations altogether\, disrupting ecosystems that depend on them. \nPollinators—like bees\, butterflies\, and even hummingbirds—are also on the move. As their habitats shift with the climate\, they may leave behind the plants they once pollinated\, breaking ancient relationships that sustain biodiversity and agriculture. Crops and wild plants alike could suffer. \nThis panel explores the delicate timing and interconnectedness of migration and pollination in a changing climate—and what it means for ecosystems\, food security\, and the future of life on Earth. \nPanelists:\nLiba Pejchar\, Professor\, Fish\, Wildlife\, and Conservation Biology\nJohn Mola\, Assistant Professor\, Forest and Rangeland Stewardship\nKristen Ruegg\, Assistant Professor\, Biology \nModerated by: \nDale Lockwood\, Assistant Professor\, Departments of Biology and School of Global Environmental Sustainability \n
