SUMMARY:Managing the Planet: The Renewable Energy Transition
DESCRIPTION:Reducing greenhouse gas emissions and a statewide transition to clean energy are integral to sustaining Colorado’s way of life. Transitioning to clean energy protects the health of communities and natural environment\, provides access to lower-cost clean energy resources\, increases investment and economic growth opportunities\, and expands clean energy jobs. To address Colorado’s two largest sources of emissions — the power sector and transportation — the state is working to transition to 100% clean electricity generation by 2040. Panelists representing different disciplines will discuss how their research informs decision making\, housing and the built environment\, and the economic impact. \nPanelists:\nJesse Burkhardt\, Associate Professor\, Agricultural and Resource Economics\nEllison Carter\, Assistant Professor\, Civil and Environmental Engineering\nSteve Conrad\, Associate Professor\, Department of Systems Engineering\nCarol Dollard\, Utility Engineer\, CSU Facilities Management \nModerator: Gene Kelly\, SoGES Faculty Research Liaison\, Deputy Director of the Agricultural Experiment Station and Associate Dean of Extension
