Research Summary: Phil’s work focused on environmental ethics in terms of issues of limits to growth, sustainable consumption, and population ethics. He has argued that signs of global ecological degradation creates an ethical imperative to limit economic and demographic growth, and during his 2011-2012 resident fellowship, he focused on writing and publishing on this subject.
